Security vendor Proofpoint has appointed Yvette Lejins to the role of resident CISO for the APAC region.

"As we expand across the APAC theatre, Proofpoint's reputation as an undisputed cybersecurity leader has allowed us to attract fantastic talent", said Proofpoint global resident CISO Lucia Milică.

"Yvette's industry expertise and track record of delivering award-winning cybersecurity programs for critical infrastructure organisations will help our customers navigate today's challenging threat landscape. Simply put, Yvette will be a key advisor to help us deliver on our people-centric security vision for Asia Pacific customers, against exceptional demand for our services."

Lejins joins Proofpoint from Qantas where she headed the Cyber Business Protect project covering Jetstar, Qantas Loyalty and Qantas Digital. She previously worked as Jetstar's head of cybersecurity.

Her 25 years of IT experience also include senior security roles at Asciano, Atlassian, NEHTA, and the NSW Attorney General's Department.

Early in her career Lejins worked for Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu and Lloyd's Register of Shipping.

She holds a BA in computing from the University of Canberra and an MSc in IT security from the University of Westminster (UK).

Lejins was a founding Sydney chapter lead for the Australian Women in Security Network and a former chair of the Health Information Security Committee for Standards Australia.

"I'm delighted to be joining Proofpoint to help organisations across the APAC region push their people-centric security strategies to the next level" said Lejins.

"Throughout my career, I have been advocating for security approaches which put people at the centre, so working with the team here at Proofpoint to drive this shift in mindset feels like the perfect match."
