Tanzanian woman national arrested at Mumbai airport with 810 gm cocaine worth over Rs 8 cr

Thane / Mumbai, Aug 10 (UNI) The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence have seized 160 gram of cocaine worth approximately Rs 8 crore and arrested one Tanzanian woman national for allegedly smuggling in the narcotic contraband in the country.
Acting on a specific intelligence input, a DRI team apprehended Tanzanian woman passenger, Ms Kitewana Wardah Ramadhani, while travelling from Dar-e-Salam, Tanzania to Mumbai via Addis Ababa on Aug 5.
During her medical examination and her X-ray screening at Sir J J Hospital, the presence of some foreign bodies in her stomach was revealed, an official release issued by DRI stated on Tuesday.
During her five-day stay in hospital, Ramadhani purged 65 capsules, Thus total 66 capsules were recovered from her which were found to contain cocaine.
Thus, total 810 gm cocaine worth over Rs 8 crore in illicit market was recovered and seized under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
She was arrested and has now been remanded into judicial custody until Aug 24, the release added.
