Inside issue 289 of evo

How do you beat the Porsche 911 GT3? And not just any GT3, but the long-awaited 992, one already heralded as the most capable and visceral yet? With full tanks of fuel, two very different but very talented rivals and Jethro Bovingdon to find out how, issue 289 is landing with a bang.

Back down to earth, we’ve got the second round of our hot hatchback joust, this time with three small-fry hatchbacks that hit much harder than their dimensions would suggest. This time around, it’s the turn of the Hyundai i20 N, Toyota GR Yaris and Ford Fiesta ST Edition to fight it out in order to secure a spot in our eventual finale. Which will prevail? Well unlike our last trip, there’s no duffer in this group, making this one hell of a battle.

Moving from two fantastical group tests though, we also drive one of the most successful WRC cars of the modern era: Sebastian Loeb’s C4 WRC. We also check in with one of the most auspicious car designers of this generation, Peter Stevens, the man credited with the design of entire generations of the sorts of cars we see on the road every day, to the most iconic supercar of them all, the McLaren F1.

We also take a sneak peek behind the closed doors of Jaguar Land Rover’s archives, full of its greatest hits, development mules, secret prototypes and movie stars, reveal our latest featured photographer in Behind the Lens and drive the latest new metal including Morgan’s awesome offroading Plus Four CX-T.

This is all in addition to our usual features including the latest ruminations from our three wise columnists, suss out the latest news, check in with our Fast Fleet and drive Lamborghini’s most intense V12-powered track toy yet.

Pick up your copy in-store, or at our new online store here.
