Over 5.50 crore Covid vaccine doses administered in UP

Lucknow, Aug 11(UNI) More than 5.50 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been administered in Uttar Pradesh so far, an official said.
''Uttar Pradesh is successful in its fight against the Covid as this most populous state has so far given the 'Shots of Life' to more than 5,51,27,657 people. During the course of the last 24 hours, more than 5.23 lakh people were inoculated,'' Additional Chief secretary (Information) Navneet Sehgal said here on Wednesday.
The demand to get vaccinated remains high as it is the only option to fight out the invisible enemy, he said.
With the supply of vaccine having escalated after the Centre announced the 'Vaccination for All' drive, the state is in a position to further scale up the operations to a large extent, Sehgal claimed during his daily press briefing.
On the contrary, Maharashtra lags behind with 4.75 crore doses delivered so far. The vaccination numbers in Rajasthan stand at 3.36 crore, West Bengal has vaccinated around 3.57 crore people, in Tamil Nadu, only 2.57 crore vaccine doses have been given and Kerala has vaccinated only 2.22 crore of its population, Sehgal pointed out.
''The state's vaccination success can be attributed to numerous factors. After an awareness campaign launched during May-June to address vaccine hesitancy in the rural districts, people are now willing to get inoculated,'' he said.
