Maharashtra News LIVE Updates: Govt officials to decide on reopening of schools in Pune

Maharashtra government issued SOPs regarding the reopening of schools in the state. In rural areas, physical classes for 5 to 7 and 8 to 12 in urban areas will resume from August 17. Basic Covid protocols like social distancing, sanitisation and mask-wearing are mandatory. The Bombay High Court on Tuesday cancelled the Common Entrance Test (CET) for Class 11 in Maharashtra, scheduled for August 21, saying it would result in "gross injustice" and affect students' "right to life" in view of the COVID-19 threat. Official nod awaited for standard XI admissions in Aurangabad

A policy decision for starting the Class XI admissions in Aurangabad was awaited till Monday evening in the wake of the Bombay high court scrapping the proposed Common Entrance Test (CET).While Aurangabad has already been excluded from the Centralised Admission Process (CAP) for admissions to junior colleges, the cancellation of the CET is now expected to pave way for beginning of Class XI admissions.
