IPL 2021: MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina & all CSK players go in quarantine before boarding for Dubai– With just a couple of days left to take off for UAE, MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina and other CSK players have entered quarantine. The players are self-isolating in Chennai as a precautionary measure ahead of IPL 2021 Phase 2 preparations in UAE. The development comes even as Dubai or Abu Dhabi has not made it mandatory to isolate in India before flying in UAE, as per bio-secure protocols. Such is the dedication of the franchise that it is leaving no stones unturned to ensure players do not miss out any time for practice. The COVID-19 impact on coaches will also be on the minds of the CSK coaches ahead of the UAE leg.
“Although it is not a pre-condition, we have gone into isolation as a precautionary measure. MS and 12 other players have been isolating,” confirmed CEO Kasi Viswanathan.

IPL 2021: MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina & all CSK players go in quarantine before boarding for Dubai–
The players are set to take off on August 13 subject to UAE rules but there is a catch. Chennai Super Kings is yet to receive permission from UAE Authorities to land in Dubai.
“We need approval from the UAE government to land there and that is something we are waiting for, we are yet to recieve that”, declared CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan.
CSK CEO said they are confident that BCCI who is looking into the issue will procure the permisison of landing on Wednesday. 2He said the team is still confident it will get the landing approval on Wednesday and they will leave as scheduled on 13th Aug, if not they may have to postponed their trip for few days.
“We need approval from the UAE government to land there and that is something we are waiting for. Our crew is already in quarantine as per the SOP and everyone is ready. The BCCI is looking to get us the approval and we are hoping to get the green signal by tomorrow,” he said.
Coming to the tournament, the BCCI has decided to do away with contact tracing devices for the UAE leg, starting on September 19. The Indian board has decided that Bubble Integrity Officers will do the necessary contact tracing if any player tests positive for COVID-19 in UAE.
It is notable that CSK usually starts practice a month or at least 15 days earlier. This is because a number of players from the franchise are retired while some of them are yet to play in the international arena. Thus, the training helps them get in the groove and ensure they are on top of the opposition from the word GO. They had previously started training in Chennai for a month ahead of the IPL 2021. The results showed for it as they won 5/7 matches in the opening leg.
