The delta variant of the coronavirus is growing very fast. Due to this variant in Kerala, the epidemic has taken an aggressive form, due to which the infection rate has exceeded 20 percent in some districts. The Delta variant is coming out in most of the states of the country. Giving this information on Tuesday, Dr. Sujit Kumar Singh, Director, National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) said that due to the delta variant, all the states have been advised to be on alert.

He told that till now where delta variant is being found in most of the samples. At the same time, Delta Plus, AY2, AY3 variants associated with it have also been found in India. So far, the Delta and its associated four variants have been received. Cases have been reported in almost every state. Dr. Sujit Kumar said that except for Delta, there is no evidence of the four variants of Delta Plus being aggressive, but the Delta variant is spreading very fast.

Health Ministry Joint Secretary Luv Kumar Aggarwal said that less than a two percent infection rate has been registered in the country in the last two weeks. The infection rate this week is 1.87 percent. However, the infection rate is more than 10 percent in 44 districts of 11 states. There are 10 such districts in Kerala. There are 29 districts in the six northeastern states of Manipur, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Sikkim where the infection rate is more than 10 percent. The Secretary said that out of the total cases received last week, 51.51 percent of cases are from Kerala only. In the last two weeks, 37 districts in nine states, including Kerala and Tamil Nadu, have registered an increase in new cases.

Delta's speed is twice that of other formats

NITI Aayog member Dr. VK Paul said that the Delta variant expands to more than double the capacity. An example of this is being seen in Kerala. Whereas the new wave in America and Britain is also a result of this. He said that due to this variant, there could be a crisis of beds in hospitals. In Kerala, 25 to 30 percent of deaths occurred within 72 hours of hospitalization in some weeks of May, June, and July. This shows how deadly the effect of the infection can be. Also, due to this variant, the condition of the patient can also worsen. However, the vaccine is effective on this variant. Also, this can be avoided by following the normal protocol of Corona.

Sequencing of more than 48 thousand samples

According to NCDC, so far 58,240 samples have been received by 28 labs in the country, out of which genome sequencing of 48478 samples has been completed. In these 86 samples, Delta Plus and three other related variants have been found. It is found in almost all states. They have the highest presence in 36 samples in Maharashtra and 10 in Tamil Nadu. So far, 839 variants have been confirmed in 5178 samples of travelers who have returned from foreign travel. In the sequencing of 43,300 samples, 28,093 have been found suffering from serious variants.

Corona rising in Himachal-Punjab

According to the Ministry of Health, the R-value (reproduction value) of the corona is increasing the most in Himachal Pradesh and Punjab. This value means the transmission of infection from one infected person to another person. The R-value in both these states is 1.3-1.3. Here the infection is spreading from a corona-infected patient to 1.3 people. Apart from these, in Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, this R-value is stable at 1.1. While it is increasing in Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh also. 1.1 from a corona-infected person in Uttar Pradesh and one person in Andhra Pradesh is getting infected after coming in contact.
