South African tennis ace Lloyd Harris advanced to the third round at the Masters 1000 event in Toronto on Wednesday after a comfortable 6-2, 6-3 win over Spanish veteran Feliciano Lopez.
Harris made headlines in Washington last week when he upset 20-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal.
Harris, the world No 49, was again drawn to meet Nadal in Toronto but the Spaniard pulled out with a foot injury.
Nadal's compatriot, 39-year-old Lopez, got into the event as a "lucky loser" from qualifying but proved no match for Harris.
Lopez turned professional in 1997 - the year Harris was born.
Harris, who beat Canadian qualifier Brayden Schnur 6-3, 6-2 in his first round match on Monday, next faces American Reilly Opelka for a spot in the quarter-finals.
It will be Harris and world No 32 Opelka's first meeting at the top-level ATP Tour, but Harris did prevail 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 when the pair met in qualifying for an event in Shenzhen, China in 2017.
Opelka, who stands 2.11m, is renowned as a big server.
