Petrol and diesel prices continued to remain steady across the country for the 25th straight day on Wednesday. Petrol was last revised on July 17. There has been no change in fuel prices so far in August.
Petrol prices were hiked nine times and diesel rates five times in July this year. June saw both petrol and diesel price hike on 16 occasions, which was followed by 16 times price hikes in the month of May.
This was after the oil marketing companies (OMCs) resumed their price revisions ending an 18-day hiatus that coincided with the assembly elections in four key states and one union territory.
In India, the fuel prices differ from state to state depending on the local taxation (VAT) and freight charges. Apart from this, the central government charges an excise duty on auto fuels.
The price of petrol in Delhi stands at Rs 101.84 per litre while that of diesel is at Rs 89.87.
In Mumbai, the price of petrol currently is Rs 107.83, while diesel costs Rs 97.45.
The price of petrol in Kolkata stands at Rs 102.08 per litre while that of diesel is at Rs 93.02.
In Chennai, the price of petrol currently is Rs 102.49, while diesel costs Rs 94.39.
The price of petrol in Bengaluru stands at Rs 105.25 per litre while that of diesel is at Rs 95.26.
In Hyderabad, the price of petrol currently is Rs 105.83, while diesel costs Rs 97.96.
The price of petrol in Patna stands at Rs 104.25 per litre while that of diesel is at Rs 95.51.
In Bhopal, the price of petrol currently is Rs 110.20, while diesel costs Rs 98.67.
The price of petrol in Jaipur stands at Rs 108.71 per litre while that of diesel is at Rs 99.02.
