The girl was the youngest of five siblings. According to the information, the girl was sleeping at her house, at the same time she was abducted. After this, her elder sister had lodged a missing complaint of the girl at the Sefrai police station on Tuesday.
The girl`s body was found wrapped in a red cloth on Tuesday night from the Singlu river. Along with the dead body were also ashes and other things which are used in Tantric rituals. A senior police officer suspected that it was a case of human sacrifice. The dead body has been sent for post-mortem.
Giving details of the case, a senior official said that a `Sadhak` () has been arrested and a search operation has been launched to nab the main accused. The official said the girl`s parents have been questioned and 10 people, including her father, have been taken into custody for further questioning. The police officer said that the investigation of the case is going on and the angle of human sacrifice cannot be ruled out in the case. In the past also there have been incidents of human sacrifice in tribal-dominated tea gardens in the area.
