Bengaluru, August 11: After a brief lull, the football season is alive and kicking as Chelsea take on Villarreal in the UEFA Super Cup 2021.
The one-off match between the Champions League winners and Europa League champions will take place at Windsor Park in Belfast, Northern Ireland, on Tuesday (August 11) at 8pm local time.
Due to the four-and-a-half hour time difference, the kick off time in India will be 12.30am on Wednesday (August 12) and the match will be shown live on Sony TEN 2 channel.
The Blues are appearing in this European showpiece fixture for the fifth time after seeing off Manchester City in Porto in the final in May to clinch a second Champions League triumph for the club.
Timo Werner is set to lead the Blues line, supported by Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech who scored twice against Tottenham and Mason Mount.
Meanwhile, Gerard Moreno will lead the attack for Villareal, who had defeated Manchester United en route to clinching the Eoropa Leagye crown.
They will be missing attacker Samuel Chukwueze though as he remains out with a hamstring injury.
Chelsea will be keen to perform well in the pre-season and lay down a marker ahead of the new season, but Villarreal, coached by Unai Emery, are no pushovers and they will be equally eager for a good start to the season.
