Popular Malayalam actress Saranya Sasi passed away on August 9 at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram.

She was 35 and was reportedly battling a rare form of a brain tumour since 2012. Saranya was admitted to the hospital after testing positive for Covid-19 in May this year. She was in a critical condition since last couple of weeks and took her last breath on Monday.

Saranya started her acting career with the TV serial Balachandra Menon in 2006 and worked in films such as Mohanlal-starrer Chotta Mumbai, Thalappavu, Bombay March 12 and Annmariya Kalippilaanu, to name a few. Last year, she had launched a YouTube channel to exhibit her culinary skills during the lockdown. Actor Kishor Satya, who played Saranya’s husband in her first popular show, Manthrakodi remembers the actress and said, “She was a real fighter. At a very young age the chronic illness, which will shatter any normal human being, caught her. But she didn’t give up.”
