Joey Lawrence announces his engagement to his girlfriend Samantha Cope... one year after filing for a divorce from wife Chandie
Joey Lawrence is engaged to his girlfriend Samantha Cope.
The 45-year-old actor revealed the news in an interview with Us Weekly, calling his 34-year-old wife-to-be the 'best person ever.'
The former Celebrity Big Brother contestant filed for a divorce from his second wife, Chandie Lawrence, one year ago. The former couple shares two children.

Talking about his upcoming nuptials to Coope, Lawrence said wedding plans were not set in stone, although they planned to make further announcements in the near future.
'There's a lot of stuff going on, you know, there's a lot of stuff going on, which we'll talk about soon, but yeah, it's a lot of great stuff,' he told the magazine.

The Melissa & Joey actress talked about how they met, revealing how the couple was introduced on the set of his upcoming Lifetime movie A Deadly Deed.
'So we met there and out of nowhere, you know, it was a crazy year and a half for everybody, obviously the whole world,' Joey said. 'Then when you least expect [it,] amazing things happen and meeting her has just been really the greatest thing ever.'

He later added, 'Last year, 2020 was really something. And when you least expect it, you know, you literally meet the perfect person for you, and all those intangibles come into play.'
Lawrence said he was happy to be able to be authentic with his love, saying: 'It's cool to be this age and have that happen because all the pretense is gone and you're not playing games,' he said.
The pandemic also changed the way they got to know one another.
"There was no way to wine and dine anybody [because] we couldn't go anywhere. So we were literally saying we'd been together like 11 months…It was just hanging out, trapped in that, you know, confined space.'

'Meeting her has just been really the greatest thing ever,' he went on.
Joey said daughters Charleston and Liberty had been introduced to his now-fiancee and that they 'like her a lot.'
'I mean, it's been a journey for them as well, but they're 15 and 11 and they're great,' he noted.
Lawrence shares his children with his second wife, Chandie, whom he initially married in 2005, although they had originally met during their teenage years.
The two welcomed their daughters before filing for divorce last July after 15 years of marriage.
The actor was also previously married to Michelle Vella from 2002 until the finalization of their divorce, which came three years later.
