Anti-corruption unit raids properties related to ex-AIADMK minister SP Velumani & his close aides

The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption has raided the residence of AIADMK MLA SP Velumani in Tamil Nadu. During this, a large number of party workers and their supporters have gathered outside the MLA`s house. It is also learned that searches are being conducted by DVAC officials at the premises of people close to Velumani.

According to media reports, officials of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption have launched searches at the house of former Tamil Nadu minister SP Velumani and 51 other places in Coimbatore, Chennai, Kancheepuram and Dindigul on Tuesday morning. Raids are being conducted against him in a corruption case. The officials were also raiding the premises of the former minister`s close aides and contractors. During this period projects worth several crores were taken in Coimbatore and Chennai Municipal Corporations.

Velumani was the local administration minister in the AIADMK government led by former Chief Minister K. Palaniswami and was instrumental in winning the majority of seats in Coimbatore and the western belt in the assembly elections held in April.
