MUMBAI: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Tuesday issued a Standard Operation Procedure (SoP) for verifying vaccination certificates of citizens so that they can buy monthly rain travel passes.
According to a statement issued by municipal commissioner Iqbal Chahal, the BMC has initiated an offline vaccination certificate verification process where the BMC will set up verification desks outside railway stations.
Citizens who have completed 14 days after the second dose of their vacation, are required to carry a hard copy of the Covid-19 vaccination final certificate and a Photo ID for verification.
Officials said that the offline verification procedure for Covid-19 vaccination and issuing railway monthly passes will start on Wednesday from 7 am at suburban railway stations and those eligible after verification will be allowed to travel August 15 onwards.
“Accordingly, in order to make it convenient for the citizens to travel in local trains and obtain railway monthly pass, an offline verification process for Covid-19 Final Vaccination (completed 14 days after the second dose) will start on Wednesday at 53 railway stations in BMC jurisdiction area at a total of 109 railway stations in Mumbai Metropolitan Region. It will be functional in two consecutive sessions from 7 am to 11 pm,” Chahal said.
“The CM has announced that the eligible citizens who have completed Covid vaccination will be able to travel by local train from August 15. This will be facilitated both online and offline. The process of creating an app and starting the online process may take a little more time. Hence, the offline process will start Wednesday, so that there is no inconvenience to Mumbaikars,” Chahal said.
“This offline process of issuing monthly season passes will continue on all seven days of the week till further orders and therefore citizens need not rush to the railway stations,” Chahal said.
Apart from the 53 railway stations in Mumbai, this offline verification facility will be available at 109 local railway stations in the entire Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR Region) including neighbouring cities.
