Gurgaon: As many as 1,268 pregnant
women got their first
Covaxin jabs across 34 government centres in the city on Monday. Three adverse event following immunisation (AEFI) cases were recorded during the day and the women mostly complained of nausea and vomiting.
Under Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan,
pregnant women would be inoculated at 34 sites on the 9th of every month, officials said.
Dr Ashima, in-charge of Wazirabad primary health centre, where several women were inoculated on Monday, said health department teams are conducting awareness drives and encouraging women to take the vaccines. “ANMs and ASHA workers are also going to many areas,” she said.
Gurgaon registers 3,000-3,500 pregnancies every month and every year, the city records 35,000-40,000 deliveries.
Officials said the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan aims to provide free antenatal care. “Under this scheme, we are planning to get ultrasound facilities at the 34 inoculation sites,” said Dr Virender Yadav, chief medical officer, Gurgaon. “It is safe for pregnant women to take the vaccines,” he added.
On Tuesday, 68 government session sites will be open for the
vaccination drive. Of these, 58 centres will administer Covishield. Nine sites will administer Covaxin and Sputnik V will be available at one centre.
On Monday, 12,247 people in the 18-44 years age group got inoculated. In the 45 years and above category, 2,818 people took the shots. As many as 85 healthcare and 213 frontline workers also got vaccinated. In all, 15,363 jabs were administered. The number of first doses was 9,794 and second doses was 5,569.

Covid cases on Monday, taking the tally to 1,80,948. Currently, there are 76 active cases and the positivity rate stands as 0.1%. Five people have recovered in the past 24 hours and the total number of recoveries stands at 1,79,951. The recovery rate is 99.6%. While 73 people are in home isolation, three are in hospitals.
