LUDHIANA: A day after the
health department started Covid-19 sampling in schools, eight students of Government Senior Secondary School, Basti Jodhewal tested positive for coronavirus on Tuesday.
These students are of class 11 and class 12 who studied in the evening shift of the school. Following the development, the evening shift of the school has been shut and all students have been asked to home quarantine themselves.
The health department on Monday had conducted rapid Covid-19 tests on 1,200 students in Ludhiana district, of which these eight students were found positive. Post that, the health teams conducted
RT-PCR tests on them, and on Tuesday, the report ascertained that the students were indeed positive for coronavirus.
Rakesh Kumar, principal of the school, stated that these eight students were studying in the evening shift of the school. All other students have been directed to quarantine themselves for 14 days and the evening shift of the school has been suspended for the meantime.
