    Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 0.78%

    Synopsis

    The Nifty Auto index closed 0.78 per cent down at 10158.75.

    India 10-year bond yield declined 0.40 per cent to 5.98 after trading in 5.98 -6.04 range.
    NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a negative note on Tuesday.

    Shares of Mahindra & Mahindra (up 1.46 per cent) and Eicher Motors (up 0.2 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

    On the other hand, Bharat Forge (down 3.14 per cent), Bosch (down 1.82 per cent), TVS Motor Company (down 1.78 per cent), MRF (down 1.53 per cent) and Bajaj Auto (down 1.48 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

    The Nifty Auto index closed 0.78 per cent down at 10158.75.

    Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 21.85 points at 16280.1, while the BSE Sensex stood up 151.81 points at 54554.66.

    Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 19 ended in the green, while 30 closed in the red.

    Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, PNB, SAIL and Bank of Baroda were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

    Shares of Rex Pipes and Cables Industries Ltd., Pritika Auto Ind, Network People Services Technologies Ltd., Repro India and Kshitij Polyline hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Stylam Ind, Grauer & Weil, Andrew Yule, Viceroy Hotels and Bright Solar hit their fresh 52-week lows.
