Rahul, Lt Guv, other politicians meet at a function in Srinagar

Srinagar, Aug 10 (UNI) Despite political differences, former Congress president Rahul Gandhi, Lt Governor Manoj Sinha and former chief minister Dr Farooq Abdullah and leaders of other political parties were seen together on Monday evening at the marriage ceremony of Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Ghulam Ahmad Mir’s son.

Mr Gandhi arrived here on Monday afternoon on a two-day visit to J&K.

He later attended the marriage ceremony of Mir’s son.

The other leaders who attended the function included Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, Dr Farooq Abdullah , former Union minister Saifuddin Soz, CPI(M) leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami.

Sources told UNI that though the leaders were seen greeting each other but there was no confirmation on whether politics formed a part of their conversation.

This was the first visit of Mr Gandhi after the reading down of Article 370 of the Indian constitution and bifurcation of Jammu & Kashmir into two Union Territories (UTs) on August 5, 2019. However, he made an unsuccessful attempt to visit Kashmir when he alongwith a delegation of opposition party leaders was sent back to Delhi after land at Srinagar International Airport.

The marriage ceremony brought together Rahul, Sinha, Farooq and other senior leaders together for the first time.
