Jammu, Aug 10 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Health and Medical Education Department on Tuesday said that 100 per cent first dose target has been achieved in the above 45 years age group in 15 districts of the total 20 across the Union Territory.
Jammu and Kashmir Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Medical Education Department, Atal Dulloo here told UNI that all 20 districts have crossed 95 percent first dose coverage in above 45 age group, adding, “We have achieved 100 percent target of first dose coverage in this group in 15 out of 20 districts of the UT.”
He further elaborated that first town in India to vaccinate 100 percent of all individuals aged 18 and above was Katra in Reasi District and added, “first village to vaccinate 100 percent of all individuals aged 18 and above was Weyan in Bandipora District of Kashmir region and 70 percent of total population of 18 and above in the UT had been vaccinated with first dose of vaccine (National average is around 55 percent).”
Mr Dulloo said that all age categories are being registered through online and onsite registration across all permitted age groups and more than 1800 session sites are planned daily and most of them are advertised through media.
“Technical support was provided by the UNDP-eVIN team in training and facilitating data and logistics related needs at Block, District and State levels and timely also the refresher training for cold chain handlers and their on-ground monitoring by VCCMs,” he said.
On Vaccine Distribution, Mr Dulloo said that it was made possible only due to the timely intervention of state department and UT administration to facilitate vaccine availability and proactive feedback to the Central Government and added that Central Government’s timely communication and hassle-free vaccine dispatch strategies was among the prominent measures.
Mr Dulloo also had praise for local police and district administration for doing an exemplary job maintaining the law and order of the place in facilitating the vaccination process besides introduction of customized sites for women, especially pregnant women called ‘Pink Booths’.
He said that use of local leaders, religious clerics, media influencers for motivating the public and increasing their participation in vaccination campaigns, are also among prominent measures taken in achieving the target.
He said that weekly reviews were also taken by the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha with Chief Secretary Dr Arun Kumar Mehta and bi-weekly reviews of District Medical officers were taken by the State Immunization Division and Directorate of Family Welfare from time to time.
