Protest for Cachar Rape Victim at Manipuri Basti, Guwahati
World Meetei Convention (WMC) Assam Unit have called this press meet today to condemn the heinous crime of gang rape incident occurred on 9th May 2021 at Madhutilla, outskirts of Silchar. The victim is a young Meetei (Manipuri) widow having two kids and belongs to very poor background. The victim is very courageous and she lodged the FIR on her own the same day at Ghungoor Police Station.
With the initiative of WMC, “Justice Demand Committee for Madhutilla Rape Victim” (JMRV) has been formed and have been working dedicatedly to get justice to the victim.
The WMC Assam Unit team along with other social organizations., viz.,

2) Meetei-Nupi Mahila Bahumukhi Samabay Samittee
3) Manipuri Basti Meirapaibi Nari Sangstha
4) Rajbari Manipuri Students Union
5) Manipuri Sahitya Parishad – Assam, Rajbari branch and
6) United Manipuri Association of Assam (UMAA)
have assembled to demonstrate following COVID protocol today i.e., 3rd Aug 2021 at Manipuri Basti, Guwahati to show solidarity to the victim’s family and we demand justice for the victim without delay.
We also urge to the Government of Assam to provide a job to the victim so that she can earn her livelihood with dignity.
