CHANDIGARH: Two teenage girls were allegedly poisoned to death after they were gang raped by four men in a village under Kundli police station in
Haryana's Sonipat district.
As per the police, the incident took place during late hours of August 6, when the girls were sleeping at their house.
Four accused - Arun Pundit, Ram Suhag, Bhukhan and Phool Chand - barged into their room and gang-raped them.
The also threatened the mother of the girls of dire consequences and elimination of her son.
Meanwhile, the victims were administered pesticides . The accused left the place after the girls became unconscious
Later, their mother claimed that the girls fell unconscious due to snake bite.
The woman's neighbors sent the girls to
Jagniwan Ram hospital in New Delhi where they died during treatment.
Hospital authorities sent the bodies for postmortem and informed the Sonipat police.
"Initially, the mother of the girls repeated her statement. But, during preliminary investigations, we did not find any snake bite marks on the bodies. Hence, we asked doctors to conduct a complete post-mortem and to ascertain if the girls were subjected to any kind of violence,’’ said a police officer.
"The report categorically suggested that the girls were subjected to sexual abuse and there were suggestive injuries on their body. Besides this, they were found to have been poisoned, said the officer.
The officer said that following this on Tuesday, cops the woman into confidence after which she revealed the real story and the accused were arrested.
"Further all the accused have confessed to have committed the crime and they will be produced before the court on Wednesday," the officer said.
