Shiv Sena-Dogra Front (SS-DF) on Tuesday held protest in
Jammu against the killing of a sarpanch and his wife by some unknown gunmen on Momday in Kashmir.
Unknown terrorists shot dead Ghulam Rasool from Kulgam's Redwani Bala and his wife Jawhara Banoo also a Panch on Monday afternoon inside their rented accommodation in Lal Chowk area in Anantnag.
Led by their president Ashok Gupta, SS-DF activists burned the effigy of Maulana Masood Azhar as his terror outfit is alleged to be behind the killing of the elected representatives.
Amid "anti-Pak and Long Live Ghulam Rasool" etc, the resident SS-DF Ashok Gupta said that the killing of a Kashmiri Sarpanch calling it was a desperate attempt by Pakistan-sponsored terrorists to fail the ongoing peace process in the Union Territory.
"Pakistan and its sponsored terrorists are shaken by the successive successful operations by Indian security forces", Gupta said.
"My heart goes out to Sarpanch & his family. He didn’t deserve this brutality while serving the people of this country", he said.
Gupta further said that Indian forces have neutralized dreaded terrorists in the valley and the terrorism industry run by Pakistan is on verge of collapse. "People of J&K have seen enough bloodshed and are now determined to defeat nefarious designs of Pakistan, he said further adding, "the entire nation stands with the family of Ghulam Rasool and the perpetrators of crime will not be spared.
SS-DF also requested all the political parties from the region to desist from making any political statements for their own filthy political motives. "The gruesome Incident should be seen as an act of Pakistan sponsored terrorism, attacking democratically elected representatives in the Kashmir Valley and we must fight it tooth and nail with all our positive powers united," Gupta added.
He stressed that using the incident for political motives is a shameless act and everybody must desist from doing this.
Earlier on June 3, 2021, a BJP councillor Rakesh Pandita was shot dead and a woman injured in an attack by terrorists on in Tral of Kashmir.
On March 30, 2021, unknown terrorists had stormed the office of the
Sopore Municipal Council and killed two councillors also belonging to the BJP and a policeman. On October 30, 2020 three BJP members, including the district general secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), Fida Hussain Yatoo, and two party workers, Umar Ramzan Hajam and Umar Rashid Beig, were killed at Y K Pora village in Kulgam by suspected terrorist in Kulgam district .
On August 9, 2020 Abdul Hameed Najar, president of the BJP’s OBC Morcha in Budgam, was shot at. He died the next day.
On August 6, 2020 a BJP sarpanch, Sajad Ahmad Khanday, was killed in Qazigund, in Kulgam district. Khanday, who was living in a guarded accommodation provided by the government, had gone home when he was attacked On August 5, 2020 militants shot at another BJP sarpanch, Arif Ahmad, in Akhran village of Qazigund. Ahmad was injured in the attack.
On July 8, 2020 a senior party leader in Bandipora, Sheikh Waseem Bari, his father and brother, who were also with the BJP, were killed outside their house.
