Ludhiana: 20 students of two govt schools test positive for Covid-19

LUDHIANA: As many as 20 students of two government schools in Ludhiana tested positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday.
The cases were reported a day after the health department started Covid sampling in schools in the district.
Following the development both the schools have been closed for 14 days.
Deputy commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma said that the health department had started sampling of Covid-19 in all government schools from Monday.
On Day One, a total 1,200 students were tested. On Tuesday, the reports confirmed that eight students of Government Senior Secondary School, Basti Jodhewal and 12 students of Government High School, Kailash Nagar have contracted the virus.
Sharma added, both the schools have been shut till August 24.
The DC also directed chief medical officer Dr Kiran Ahluwalia to depute medical teams for testing all the students and teachers of both the schools.
Though the classes of both the schools will remain suspended, the teachers and students may visit there to get themselves tested.
