HP: 600 projects get stage-2 forest clearance during lockdown, says CM

Shimla, Aug 10 (UNI) Supreme Court has given stage-two clearance to as many as 600 development projects during the Covid-19 lockdown while several developmental projects of stage-one are pending before the top court to get forest clearance, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said on Tuesday.

While replying to a query by Jagat Singh Negi of Congress during the question hour, CM said, as there is a ban on green felling, developmental projects that got final forest clearance were only allowed to be executed.

Mr Thakur said that during the last two years, his government is trying to allow many projects pending before the Union Ministry of Forest, Environment, and Climate Change.

'I have met the Prime Minister, Union Home Minister, and Solicitor General of India for early clearance of pending projects. SC has recently allowed 600 developments which were pending for stage two clearance.' the CM informed.

The pending projects would be placed before the SC through the Union Ministry, he said.

Six link road projects for Kinnaur district are also pending forest clearance and the government would prepare a detailed project report only after it was permitted by the court, CM said.
