    Share market update: Most active stocks of the day in terms of traded value

    NEW DELHI: Bharti Airtel (Rs. 2096.90 crore), HDFC (Rs. 1249.24 crore), IRCTC (Rs. 1215.65 crore), SBI (Rs. 1191.65 crore), Tata Steel (Rs. 1178.69 crore), RIL (Rs. 1152.49 crore), Infosys (Rs. 1146.31 crore), HDFC Bank (Rs. 1122.07 crore), Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd. (Rs. 1073.69 crore) and Escorts (Rs. 915.08 crore) were among the most traded securities on the National Stock Exchange in Tuesday's session.

    The NSE Nifty index ended the session 21.85 points up at 16280.1, while BSE Sensex rose 151.81 points to 54554.66.

    In the Nifty index, Bharti Airtel Ltd. (up 3.83 per cent), Tech Mahindra Ltd. (up 2.77 per cent), Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd. (up 1.82 per cent), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (up 1.82 per cent) and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (up 1.46 per cent) stood among the top gainers.

    On the other hand, Shree Cements Ltd. (down 4.09 per cent), JSW Steel Ltd. (down 3.37 per cent), Tata Steel Ltd. (down 2.73 per cent), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (down 2.18 per cent) and Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (down 2.06 per cent) were among the top losers of the day.
