|

According to a price notification by state-owned fuel merchants, petrol and diesel prices remained at record-high levels for the 24th day in a row on August 10.

On Tuesday, petrol prices stayed steady across the country for the 24th day, while diesel prices remained unaltered. Petrol rates in Delhi stayed unchanged at Rs 101.84 per litre, while diesel prices remained unchanged at Rs 89.87.

According to the state-run oil refiner, Mumbai has the highest petrol and diesel pricing of the four metro cities. Because of the value-added tax, fuel prices differ per state (VAT).

The most recent increase brought the price of petrol in Delhi to around Rs 102 per litre. The price of petrol in New Delhi has risen to Rs 101.84 a litre. According to the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) price list, diesel retailed for Rs 89.87 per litre.

Oil marketing organizations such as Bharat Petroleum, Indian Oil, and Hindustan Petroleum modify the prices of petrol and diesel. Every day at 6 a.m., the new pricing go into effect. Because of differences in value-added taxes, local and freight charges, and other factors, fuel prices vary by state and city.

The impact of local taxes such as VAT and freight costs on fuel prices varies from state to state. Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana have the highest VAT rates on petrol and diesel in the country.
