Car stunts turn costly, 3 in Gzb fined Rs 62k

Ghaziabad: Ghaziabad police have issued a collective challan of Rs 62,000 to three youths for allegedly performing stunts with three cars in the rain on Sunday afternoon.
The video of the incident, which went viral on social media, shows the youths sitting on the windows of the car, playing hooters and driving the car in a zigzag way in Vijay Nagar area.
SP (Traffic) Ramanand Kushwaha told TOI that cops took the numbers of three cars from the video and issued multiple challans to the drivers, identified as Suraj Pal Singh, Rahul Nagar and Shekhar Kumar, all aged above 20 years.
Kushwaha said, “There were around four people in every car. Singh got challans for racing (Rs 5,000), driving without licence (Rs 5,000), for violating norms of sound pollution (Rs 10,000), for not having a car insurance certificate (Rs 2,000). Nagar got challans of Rs 5,000 for performing stunts, Rs 5,000 for driving without a licence and Rs 10,000 for violating norms of sound pollution. Kumar was challaned Rs 20,000 for performing stunts, driving without licence and violating the norms of sound pollution.”
In March, 2021, Ghaziabad police fined two women for performing stunts on their bikes. Police issued a collective fine of Rs 28,000 after taking the suo moto cognizance of the traffic violation after a video they posted on Instagram went viral. In the video, social media influencer Shivangi Dabas can be seen sitting on the shoulders of wrestler Sneha Raghuvanshi as she drives the bike on a Ghaziabad road.
On July 9, a video with loud music in the background surfaced on social media platforms in which two youths in their twenties were seen sitting on the roof of a moving Mahindra Scorpio and Maruti Vitara Brezza car.
Both the youths were also holding a card written Jatav. After which, Ghaziabad traffic police issued a fine of Rs 18,000 to the owner of the Maruti Vitara Brezza car.
On May 30, a 19-year-old youth was arrested for allegedly doing a stunt after the video of the incident went viral on social media platforms.
