From Monday, shops in Pune city are allowed to remain open till 8 pm and restaurants with a 50 per cent capacity till 10 pm. Maharashtra deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar said on Sunday that malls are also allowed to function in Pune and neighbouring Pimpri Chinchwad township till 8 pm but only citizens who have received both the doses of Covid-19 vaccines will be allowed entry. Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray said on Sunday that although relaxations in Covid restrictions have been allowed in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad, the infection is still on the rise in some districts of the state like Sindhudurg, Ratnagiri, Raigad, Kolhapur, Satara, Ahmednagar, Beed, Pune, Sangli. Nashik division gets 52,000 more Covid vaccine doses
The Nashik division has received a fresh stock of 52,000 Covid vaccine doses. Of this lot, Nashik district alone will get 16,000 doses and 15,000 will be given to the Ahmednagar district. Dhule and Jalgaon districts will get 8,000 doses each, while Nandurbar district will get 5,000 doses. The fresh stock arrived on Saturday and the same is being distributed to all the five districts in the numbers proportionate to the population. Read story here
Pune: Clear skies send daytime temperature rising, light rainfall till Saturday
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday forecast very light rainfall (2.4mm in 24 hours) over the city till August 14 with the monsoon system unlikely to revive before that. Afternoon onwards, the weather will remain cloudy. Sunny conditions prevailed in the city on Sunday morning while by evening it was mostly overcast. Nanded administration warns against illegal sale of biodiesel
The district administration in Nanded, following complaints from fuel retailers regarding alleged illegal sale of biodiesel, has warned of strict action against such dealings. “We request the stakeholders to submit complaints to the tehsildar, the nearest police station or the district supply office. Pune: One killed in chemical godown fire near Warje
A 21-year-old man was killed while his cousin sustained burn injuries in a fire that broke out at a chemical godown in New Kopre village near Warje Malwadi late on Saturday night. It took at least two hours for the PMRDA and the Pune fire brigade personnel to douse the fire. Covid-19: 45 cases of delta plus variant reported in Maharashtra so far
A total of 45 cases of the Delta plus variant of coronavirus have been reported in Maharashtra during genome sequencing, the state health department said on Sunday, adding one patient had died.
