Assam: Elephant kills one, injures another

GUWAHATI: A lone wild elephant entered a house at Rongbong toward Karbi Anglong bordering Golaghat inter-district border and killed the inmate while injuring another on early Sunday morning.
This is the second death in elephant attack in Assam within 15 days as a person was trampled to death by a wild elephant at Morongi tea estate outside the reserve forest under Bokial beat of Golaghat range last month.
On Sunday, the jumbo entered the house of Ramnath Bhagat (72) at 3.30am and injured him and a labourer named Paresh Karmakar (35) residing with him. Karmakar succumbed to his injuries on the way to SKK Civil Hospital in Golaghat while Bhagat has been shifted to the Jorhat Medical College and Hospital.
