    Stock market update: Nifty Bank index advances 0.61%

    Synopsis

    The Nifty Bank index closed 0.61 per cent up at 36028.95.

    Retail and banking stocks rose 0.5 per cent and 0.7 per cent, respectively.
    NEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index closed on a positive note on Monday.

    Shares of Axis Bank (up 1.98 per cent), IndusInd Bank (up 1.29 per cent), AU Small Finance Bank (up 1.28 per cent), HDFC Bank (up 0.75 per cent) and ICICI Bank (up 0.75 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

    On the other hand, IDFCBANK (down 3.66 per cent), Punjab National Bank (down 2.02 per cent), Bandhan Bank (down 0.84 per cent) and State Bank of India (down 0.52 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

    The Nifty Bank index closed 0.61 per cent up at 36028.95.

    Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 20.05 points at 16258.25, while the BSE Sensex stood up 125.13 points at 54402.85.

    Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 23 ended in the green, while 27 closed in the red.

    Shares of Vodafone Idea, NALCO, SAIL, Tata Power and Bank of Baroda were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

    Shares of Rolex Rings Ltd., Century Extrus, Kshitij Polyline, Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd. and STEL Holdings hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Chaman Lal Setia, Future Market, Aarey Drugs Ph, Viceroy Hotels and Kovai Medical hit their fresh 52-week lows.
