The latest chapter in soccer’s never-ending battle with unruly fans was written in Cincinnati on Saturday night when a two-year-old spectator darted out onto the pitch from his front row seat, only to be corralled by his embarrassed mother.
Remarkably, the entire incident unfolded without much of the stadium even noticing.
The perpetrator in this case, identified by the Cincinnati Enquirer as Zaydek Carpenter of Moscow, Ohio, ran onto the north end of the field in the second half of an MLS game between FC Cincinnati and visiting Orlando City SC.

With the help of an improvised slide tackle, Tucker delicately scooped up her son and returned
At one point Tucker noticed that she had lost her glasses, but she quickly scooped them up with one hand while securing her laughing son with the other and returning to her seat
The exasperated mother was seen grinning sheepishly as she approached the sideline with her giggling son in her arms
Tucker hasn’t commented publicly about the incident yet, but she was pictured by Enquirer photographer Sam Greene with a smiling Zaydek later in the evening
It’s unclear how Carpenter managed the escape, although the fact that he’s a two-year-old is a likely factor.
Typically such fan interference results in a violent tackle by stadium security or at least the interruption of the game.
However, Carpenter’s mad dash was quickly squashed by his mother, Morgan Tucker, who showed remarkable quickness in sprinting to her son on the field and delicately scooping him up while executing an improvised slide tackle.
And not only did Tucker retrieve her boy, but she managed to grab her fallen sunglasses before pivoting and zipping back to her seat before most of the stadium knew what happened.
