CHENNAI: Applications are invited by the Tamil Nadu government’s department of social defence from eligible candidates for appointment as chairperson and members in child welfare committees constituted under the provisions of Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015. Chairperson and members for the child welfare committees would be appointed by the government on an honorarium basis of which one shall be a woman, Chennai district collector Dr J Vijaya Rani said in a press release. The applicants should have been actively involved in health, education and welfare activities pertaining to children for at least seven years or a practising professional with a degree in child psychology or psychiatry or law or social work or sociology or human development, the release added. The application format and eligibility criteria can be obtained from the district child protection unit at Royapuram in Chennai, the release added.
