Asara to distribute 1 lakh sanitary pads free of cost
DHARWAD: Asara Foundation, a social organisation working for women’s education and skill development, has come up with an initiative to distribute sanitary pads free of cost to rural women.

Foundation director Rabiya Mohiddin Manari said on Sunday that the organisation aims at raising awareness on menstrual hygiene among rural women. As part of this mission, the foundation had conducted a study on menstrual hygiene among rural women and it was observed that majority of the women in villages lack knowledge on personal hygiene and the use of sanitary pads.

The foundation has approached several other organisations and also pharmacies to donate for this initiative. Hindu Pharmacy located at Panaji in Goa and Delilal Lobo has helped to realise this project, she said. The foundation has identified six villages — Giriala, Kattanur, Mahanur, Balagali, Irapur and Channapur in Kundgol taluk — for the distribution of sanitary pads.

Congratulations!
