Along with the rest of the country, actor Arjun Kapoor, too, has congratulated Neeraj Chopra for his historic gold win at Tokyo Olympics. He won the men's javelin throw final. Sharing a news article about how Neeraj battled obesity to realise his dream, Arjun called him an inspiration. He wrote, 'Just battling obesity can be physically and mentally exhausting. This boy has not just overcome that, he has kept his eyes on the prize to ace an Olympic gold medal. Neeraj, you are such an inspiration to me and for the country.' Neeraj created history for India at the Tokyo Olympics by winning a gold medal in the men's javelin throw event. Stories of how he had battled obesity in his childhood surfaced once he won the gold for the country. At the age of 13, he reportedly weighed more than 80 kilos. Many will be aware that like Neeraj, Arjun also struggled with obesity growing up. In a recent interaction with Bombay Times, the actor truly opened up and said, 'Not many know, but I have been battling obesity for the longest time. I was just not a fat kid, it was a health issue. It hasn't been easy. My underlying health condition has always made it a struggle for me to constantly stay a certain size.' Talking about how he is constantly fighting a battle of his own, he said, 'When my films weren't working to the level that I expected them to, the negativity just mounted. The triggers that had caused my health issue in the first place came back, but I tried hard to keep going and make every day count. When you are constantly engulfed in work, you don't realise that slide that you could be going through. You could be crumbling from inside while putting on a brave face. It happened to me; it happens to a lot of people.'
