Edu society to start degree college

DHARWAD: Shantesh Education Society (SES), which is running Shrimati Vidya P Hanchinmani PU College here, will offer degree course in science stream from this academic year.
SES will expand its horizons by starting a degree college in science stream, said its founder president professor Prahlad R Hanchinamani here on Friday. He said the decision to start BSc course was in response to the demand by students and parents.
“This academic year, the degree college will function from the building where the PU College is housed and will move to a spacious state-of the-art building coming up on five acres near the present building on Kalghatagi Road next year,” he said.
Students can pursue BSc in physics, mathematics, botany, zoology and computer science.
The new college will offer both online and offline teaching by experienced, highly qualified staff to guide and prepare the students to meet new challenges as envisaged by the National Education Policy 2020.
Prof Hanchinamani said the new building will have eight laboratories, modern classrooms, a spacious hall with e-library, reading rooms, separate research laboratory and sky gazing facilities. Separate hostels for boys and girls are under construction.
“To prepare students for JAM, NET and SET examinations the new college will start training right from the first year of the degree course and experts who have worked in IIT, NIT Suratkal and ARC have agreed to be guest faculty,” he added.
Renowned scientists Dr Ranganath Navalgund, Dr SM Shivaprasad, Dr T Venkatesh, Dr RV Hosur, Dr MV Hosur, Dr HV Sudhakar, educationist Dr Gururaj Karjagi and former director of AIR Dharwad CU Bellakki among others will guide the students.
SVPH PU College principal Dr Manohar Kulkarni was present.
