'I'm really relieved': Christine McGuinness reveals she has tested negative for breast cancer gene and confirms her mother is in remission
Christine McGuinness has revealed that her BRCA (breast cancer gene) test has returned negative.
In a new interview, the star, 33, discussed her brave decision to find out whether she has faulty genes after her mother Joanne - who is now in remission - was diagnosed with cancer in September.
'I'm just really relieved,' said an elated Christine, adding: 'Thank God it came back negative.'

Speaking to OK!, the mother-of-three shared: 'It doesn't mean I can't get cancer, but it means my chances are the same as anybody else's.'
Christine has a family history of breast cancer and decided to take the BRCA test after her mother's diagnosis last year.
Christine admitted she was initially hesitant to use testing company Myogenes as she feared the process would be invasive, but told the outlet it was straightforward and simple.
'It's sent in the post – it's just a saliva test and really quick,' she said, adding that results are sent directly to your GP.

Christine also revealed to the publication that if she had tested positive for the gene she would have considered 'a full mastectomy and breast reconstruction to make sure she's around for as long as possible for the children'.
She added that upon hearing the news of her negative test, husband Paddy gave her 'a huge hug' and said he was 'really, really pleased'.
Of her mother's battle with the disease, Christine explained that she 'found a lump during lockdown' and was then diagnosed with HER2-positive aggressive breast cancer.
However the fact that pandemic restrictions meant Christine was not able to be there in person for her mum during treatment left her 'heartbroken'.

In February, Christine explained to her followers that she was 'beyond heartbroken' that her mother has to isolate away from her friends and family.
The following month, she took to Instagram to post a photo of her mum ringing the bell to signal the end of her treatment.
By June, Christine was able to assure fans her mother was 'doing incredibly well' having completed her breast cancer treatment.

Taking to Instagram and posting a snap of her cuddling her beloved parent, she penned the following note for her followers: 'Ma. 'Always remember you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, smarter than you think and loved more than you know.'
'So many of you ask about my mum, she is doing amazingly well, I'm so proud of her.
'Chemotherapy and radiotherapy is all done now it's time for her to enjoy life!'
