Sam Kerr confirmed her relationship with U.S. soccer star Kristie Mewis on Sunday, after the Matildas captain split from her long-term partner Nikki Stanton.
And after the new couple made global headlines for their tender embrace on the field at the Tokyo Games, they have since taken their romance to a new level by jetting off to Miami for a romantic holiday together.
Sharing a series of updates on Instagram, Sam, 27, and Kristie, 30, appear to be having the time of their lives as they enjoy some rest and relaxation following weeks of intense training for the Olympics.

Kristie shared a photo of their hotel balcony with ocean views and a private pool below, and captioned it: 'A day.'

She also revealed the couple had enjoyed breakfast in bed on Monday, sharing a picture of two black coffees and a delicious spread including bacon, toast, eggs, vine tomatoes and roast potatoes.
The night before, Sam documented their mouth-watering meal at Nobu Miami, the world-renowned Japanese-Peruvian fusion restaurant.

Their romantic getaway comes after Sam went public with their relationship in a post shared to Instagram on Sunday.
Sam uploaded a Polaroid photo of Kristie sitting on her lap as they shared a passionate kiss, tagging her girlfriend in the caption and adding a red heart emoji.
Kristie, a midfielder for Team USA and the Houston Dash, also shared a cosy selfie with Sam on her own Instagram Stories, which showed the two women pressing their heads together.

The football stars sparked romance rumours at the Tokyo Olympics last week, after Kristie was seen comforting Sam following the Matildas' devastating defeat.
After losing 4-3 to the USA during a bronze-medal match, Kristie took a moment to sit with Sam on the field.
At one stage, Kristie nuzzled her face into Sam's shoulder as she wrapped an arm around her back in return.

Speculation about the nature of the duo's relationship quickly spread across social media - with more fuel being added to the fire when it was revealed that Sam had ended her seven-year romance with Chicago Red Stars player Nikki Stanton.
Sam ended her relationship with Nikki, 30, in the lead-up to the Tokyo Olympics, The Daily Telegraph reported last week.
She reportedly told friends she'd simply 'fallen out of love' with Nikki, whom she had met in 2014 while playing soccer in the U.S.
Their relationship couldn't withstand the long distance, with Nikki living stateside while Sam is now primarily based in the UK.

Sources close to both Nikki and Sam confirmed their split to the newspaper, and both women have unfollowed each other on social media.
'Sam was the one who ended things and Nikki was obviously upset but she is healing,' a friend told the publication.
Meanwhile, a source revealed Sam was in good spirits in the Tokyo athletes' village, saying: 'If there is any sadness around the break up it certainly wasn't evident.'
Rumours of their split first emerged in June, during the Matildas' pre-Olympic team camp in Sweden.
