GUWAHATI: With just two days to go for Olympic medallist pugilist Lovlina Borgohain's arrival, the excitement in her native village Baro Mukhia's has reached fever pitch.
Lovlina, who will arrive at New Delhi on Monday, will fly to Guwahati on Wednesday. She is likely to reach her village on Wednesday evening after attending her grand welcome in Guwahati by the government as well as Sports Authority of India, Guwahati and other stakeholders.
Golaghat district administration is monitoring the entire preparation for her welcome with deputy commissioner Mrigesh Narayan Baruah visiting her home on Sunday where he met her parents. A source from the Golaghat DC office said that district administration is likely to felicitate her at her home. "Everything is likely to be finalised by Monday," the source added.
The source also said that the district administration is not likely to allow any big procession for her welcome in view of the Covid-19 situation. "It is also a fact that people will definitely come out to welcome their hero. Let's wait till Monday for a final plan," the source added.
Meanwhile, talking to TOI, Tiken Borgohain said, "We have not planned anything special. The entire thing is being carried out and monitored by the district administration."
