Savanur police have arrested one person in connection with the murder of history-sheeter and hardcore criminal Anwar Shaikh, who was also known as Tiger Anwar and was arrested by Goa police in several criminal cases including sexual abuse.

In-charge of Savanur police station circle inspector Devanand Naik, when contacted, said that one person has been arrested and is being interrogated while three of his brothers are
at large.

Police said that the four brothers are allegedly involved in the case.

“We are in search of three other accused,” he said.

An offence under Section 302 of IPC has been registered in this connection, said police.

Shaikh was murdered near Karatagi Cross at Savanur town in Haveri district of Karnataka at around 5.30 pm on Sunday where the deceased is learnt to have gone to recover some money from one Imran who has been detained and interrogated.

Post-mortem examination was done and the dead body was handed over to Shaikh’s family members, said police.

The four accused have garages in the jurisdiction of Savanur.
