NEW DELHI: Congress MP Deepender Hooda personally welcomed the Olympic medal winners at the Delhi airport on Monday, registering the presence for the opposition party amid the rush from the ruling BJP to be seen with the Olympic medal winners. Deepender, son of former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, met many medal winners, including the gold winner and javelin throw champion Neeraj Chopra, who hail from his state. While felicitating Ravi Dahiya, Bajrang Punia, Neeraj Chopra and wrestler Deepak Punia among others with with bouquet and shawl, Deepender said the sportspersons from Haryana gave a sterling performance in Tokyo. He told Chopra that “he had made every Indian proud with his gold medal.” He said their hard work of many years had borne fruit.
