Malout (Village Middukhera), Aug 9 (UNI) Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President Sukhbir Singh Badal Monday said the Congress government was patronizing gangsters which has led to total collapse of law and order and resulted in the brutal broad daylight killing of a progressive youth like Vicky Midduekhera.
Talking to newsmen after visiting the family of Vicky Middukhera and sharing his grief with them, the SAD President said the Congress government was responsible for the present state of affairs in Punjab where kidnappings, extortions and killings had become a daily affair.
He said earlier also the SAD had pointed out how gangsters like Jaggu Bhagwanpuria were getting VIP treatment in jail and how jails had become dens for planning extortions and target killings. He said he was monitoring the case on a daily basis and was in regular touch with the police. “We will ensure that those behind this gruesome murder are punished for their deeds”, he said , adding if the government failed to give justice to the Middukhera family then the forthcoming SAD-BSP government would do the needful.
During his interaction with family members, Mr. Badal said Vicky had not only won the hearts of students and youth due to his genial and helpful nature but had done commendable work for the SAD. He said Vicky was the pillar of strength behind the Students Organisation of India (SOI) in Panjab University and elsewhere in Punjab. “I have also suffered a loss due to Vicky’s passing away as he was like a family member for me”, Mr Badal added.
The SAD President also told newsmen that Vicky’s family was staunch Akalis and that his father had served as Sarpanch of Middukhera village for more than twenty years. He said Vicky’s father had also served sentences along with former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal.
He said the Middukhera family was dedicated to social service not only in their village or area but in the entire State.
