Chennai, Aug 8 (UNI) In a tragic incident, four people
including three members of family, died of electrocution
in two separate incidents in Tamil Nadu on Sunday.
Police sources said while three members of a family--an
elderly lady, her daughter and granddaughter--died at
Singarapettai near Oothangarai in Krishnagiri distrct,
a woman was electrocuted at Alangudi in Pudukottai
district.
Reports from Krishnagiri said, 52-year-old woman Indira,
with her three-year-old granddaughter on her hips, came
out to dry the wet clothes in an iron pipe when the incident
occurred.
Because of rains, a snapped electric wire had fell on the
iron pipe. Unaware of this, Indira put the wet clothes for
drying when she and her granddaughter suffered electric
shocks.
Hearing her screams, Indira's daughter Mahalakshmi (26)
came to their rescue, but she too met with the same fate.
Acting on information, police rushed to the spot and
shifted them to a hospital, where all the three were
declared brought dead.
In the other incident, a woman, identified as Tamilselvi,
died of electrocution at Alangudi in Pudukottai district
when she came out to pick some grasses from a garden
when she stepped on to a snapped live wire.
Her body was shifted to government hospital for autopsy.
