The Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh has given positive signs regarding the 'Har Ghar Jal' scheme in the state. CM Bhupesh Baghel has assured Water Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat that every household in Chhattisgarh will have access to water by September 2023. Both the ministers jointly reviewed the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission in the state at the Chief Minister's residence in Raipur on Saturday.

Tap water will be provided to the remaining 39.59 lakh households by 2023

The Chief Minister while visiting Gajendra Singh Shekhawat hoped that the State would take all necessary steps to accelerate the pace of implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission and by September 2023, the remaining 39.59 lakh households in Chhattisgarh would be provided with tap water.

The Union Jal Shakti Minister informed that Chief Minister Baghel has assured him of all possible help to achieve the goal of Jal Ghar Ghar in the state. "It aims to translate Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of providing clean tap water to every household in the country by 2024," an official release from the Ministry of Jal Shakti said.

Now there will be a monthly review for assured tap water supply

The Chief Minister assured that the State would conduct a thorough monthly review to ensure that every rural household would be provided an assured tap water supply in inadequate quantity of prescribed quality on regular basis.

2.69 lakh houses got tap water even after corona restrictions

According to the report, out of 45.48 lakh households in Chhattisgarh at the time of the launch of Jal Jeevan Mission, only 3.20 lakh households had tap water connections. In 23 months even after the COVID-19 pandemic and the lockdown, 2.69 lakh households have been provided with tap water connections. As a result, now 5.89 lakh households in Chhattisgarh villages have a tap water supply.
