THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The group managers in the Congress party in the state, who have lost grip after the change in the leadership in the parliamentary party and at the KPCC, have now come forward with a complaint against KPCC president K Sudhakaran and opposition leader V D Satheesan.
The group managers are of the view that the new leadership is weak and the party is not strong enough as an opposition in the state. They even said the new leadership are not discussing any issues within the party and no party meetings are being convened.
Interestingly, these were the complaints raised by the neutral leaders all the years when the group managers were ruling the roost in the party. Now, they are levelling the same allegations against Sudhakaran and Satheesan.
The group managers are upset over the reorganizational revamp taking place at the KPCC and DCC levels as the party leadership has decided not to concede to any of the demand of the group managers. All DCC presidents are being changed and discussions towards this have already started. The KPCC president is not taking the group managers into confidence during the discussion.
The AICC has given clear messages to both Sudhakaran and Satheesan that new party office-bearers should be appointed purely based on merit and no group affiliation should be considered. All the 14 DCCs are going to get new presidents and the party leadership in the state wants to complete the revamp before the end of August.
It has also been decided to end the practice of forming jumbo committees in the district and KPCC levels. A new committee with a maximum strength of 51 members will be coming at the KPCC level and in the DCCs the collective opinion is to limit the committee strength between 10 and 15.
Hassan to continue as convener: The party high command has informed the state leadership that M M Hassan will continue as the UDF convener. There were speculations that he would be shifted from the post.
