Three boys swept away in Damodar river in Bokaro

Bokaro, Aug 8 (UNI) Three boys have been swept away in the Damodar river at Bhatuwa Panchayat under the Harla Police Station area of this district.

Locals said that the spot where the boys have drowned is also used for illegal sand mining therefore the boys could not estimate the depth of water and the incident took place. After receiving information family members and police reached the spot.

Those who have been swept away in the strong currents of the river included Shubham Kumar, Basant Kumar and Harsh Raj, all of them were students of class 11th of MGM School.

Police said that a total of nine boys went to take bath. Among the nine Shubham, Basant and Harsh stepped into the water and were immediately drowned.

Post the incident five boys fled away from the spot while one raised the alarm after which people living nearby gathered.

The police has called NDRF to look for the boys.
