Chennai, Aug 8 (UNI) The ruling DMK in Tamil Nadu has convened
its legislature party meeting on August 13, after the DMK regime's first
budget will be tabled in the House on that day.
After the budget proposals for the year 2021-22 were tabled by Finance
Minister Palanivel Thiagarajan on the opening day of the session in the
morning, the MLAs meeting would be held at 1700 hrs in the evening at
party headquarters Anna Arivalayam.
Chief Minister M K Stalin would chair the meeting, Government Chief Whip
Kovai Chezhiyan said in a statement here today.
The meeting will discuss the steps to be adopted by the DMK members during
the Assembly session--the first full fledged one after the DMK came to power in
May this year after a gap of 10 years--and to counter the charges to be levelled
by the principal Opposition AIADMK, including non-fulfillment of the promises
made by the DMK in its election manifesto.
Ahead of the Assembly session, the Finance Minister will publish a White paper
on the state’s finances during the 10-year AIADMK rule.
A day after tabling the General Budget, Agriculture Minister MRK Panneerselvam
will table the first Agricultural Budget the next day on August 14.
The duration of the upcoming session would be decided at the Business Advisory
Committee meeting to be chaired by Assembly Speaker M Appavu on August 10.
It will be a full-fledged session during which demand for grants for various departments
would be taken up and funds allocated.
