JAMMU: A day after eliminating two unidentified terrorists of Lashker-e-Taiba (LeT) during an encounter in Thanamandi of Rajouri district on Friday, a joint team of police and army resumed its search operation in the general forest area on Saturday morning to nab a third terrorist, believed to be holed up there.
Citing intelligence inputs, police sources said one militant was still hiding in the forests.
Security forces reportedly fired to maintain the dominance of the area, but were yet to trace the terrorist.
So far no fresh contact has been established, they said.
On Friday, Additional Director General of Police, Jammu Zone, Mukesh Singh had confirmed to media persons that security forces had successfully eliminated two terrorists, adding a third was likely to be holed up in the cordon.
"On specific inputs about the movement of a group of terrorists, the police and security agencies have been tracking them and today (Friday) a contact was made ensuing an encounter.”
Two AK 47 rifles with seven magazines, four grenades and medicines were recovered from the possession of the eliminated terrorists.
