GHMC: Obtaining Birth, Death Certificates Made Easy

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has adopted a new procedure for issuing birth and death certificates. In the new procedure, the people do not have to visit the GHMC offices to submit the application for the certificates, but the corporation will issue the relevant certificates within a week after the hospitals have uploaded the details.

The hospitals were given a period of two months to upload the details. This new system was recently launched and the results are satisfactory.

The public had to go to the GHMC circle office earlier with the certificate issued by the hospital, and then the medical officer acknowledged it.

In the new system launched by the GHMC, the hospital authorities will send the details of birth or death directly online to the civilian body. Within a week, GHMC will issue the certificates.

After the certificate has been approved, the applicants receive an SMS on their cell phone number from the civilian body. Thereafter, applicants can visit the Mee Seva Centers and obtain their certificates. In the event of death at the home, however, the officials of the corporation will visit the home and inquire with the neighbors. The submission of the cemetery certificate is mandatory to obtain it.
