KOKRAJHAR, Aug 6: A meeting was held under the chairmanship of deputy commissioner of Chirang, Narendra Kumar Shah in the conference hall of the deputy commissioner’s office to prepare for the 75th Independence Day celebrations at Kajalgaon, the district headquarters said on Friday.

The meeting was attended by superintendent of police, Chirang, Pranjit Bora, additional deputy commissioners Khanindra Das, Nirmali Baruah, additional superintendent of police Prakash Medhi, assistant commissioners, circle officers, district heads of departments, heads of educational institutions, non-governmental social organisations, leading personalities and discussed in details about the Independence Day celebration on August 15, 2021.

In view of the current Covid-19 situation, the district administration has decided to celebrate the Independence Day in full compliance with the Covid-19 guidelines. On the other hand, in order to make the Independence Day celebration a success, various departments were formally entrusted with their respective responsibilities to ensure the preparation works as well as for smooth conduct of the programme. At the meeting, the deputy commissioner Narendra Kumar Shah said that this year too, the Independence Day would be celebrated in a befitting manner with various programmes and activities by observing all preventive measures such as maintaining social distance, proper sanitisation, wearing face masks, etc., so that a positive message could be send to the public.

The administration has also decided to hold essay writing competition, quiz competition and cultural programmes along with felicitating some selected GNMs, ANMs and health workers from health department, teachers, farmers, sports persons and police personnel for their undaunted service amidst trying situations.
